Welcome to MDPOD.

Manikganj Disabled People’s Organization to Development (MDPOD) is a right-based development organization of the disabled people. It is a non-profitable and non-government organization of, by and for the disabled persons. It was established with the initiative of Md. Antaj Ali (current Director) and a group of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in 2003 in Manikganj district of Bangladesh. It has been working for positive changes to reduce negligence, discrimination, barrier, increase accessibility and to establish rights of PwDs’ socio-economic development, self-reliant through mainstreaming. It aims to increase participation of PwDs from grassroots to national level through positive change of the society that enable to contribute for the national development.

Md. Sattar is a successful man with disability in his community, lives at Dighee Union in Manikganj. He has an own pathetic story of his early life which he overcame and proved the success with his indomitable efforts. So, let us see his fact story. A tragic story of Sattar is in his early life when he was only 26 years old. He was dropped out early age from school after completion of primary level due to family poverty, lives at a village in Dighee Union under Manikganj district. Md. Jahid is now 9 years old who got cerebral palsy after birth in early age of his boyhood. He came of a poor family in Andharmanik village, Boira Union of Harirampur Upazila in Manikganj district. His father is Chan Miah an auto rikshaw driver and mother Jahanara Akter is a housewife. Due to poverty the family live with struggles and difficulties to take care of Jahid’s health and schooling properly. In 2018, MDPOD kicked off PRIDE project in Harirampur Upazila, Manikganj funded by LF-DRRA. In this project, Jahid was enlisted as a member. Chumki is name of a portrait of success woman in Manikganj now. She has a pathetic story in early and success story in present stage. She lives in her family at Jelepara in Dighee Union of Manikganj district. Chumki’s parents Chand Mohon Halder and …….have 3 sons and 3 daughters, Chumk is one of them. In early age of 3 she was attached by Polio and ultimately sustained disability on the both legs. It broke into pieces a dream of her parents and awarded uncertainty of her fate. Since, she unfortunately began disability life with crippling to move from one to another place in the family. As it made her difficulties and imposed as burden on the family, in dilemma what should do. A stereotype social of stigma, prejudice are experiencing her family....
